Parents Association Committees

The PA has five working committees to help support ISB’s mission: Library, Staff Appreciation, Community Service, Diversity, and Green Dragons. These committees are parent-run and are overseen by the PA in conjunction with ISB staff members.

Community Service Committee: This committee helps provide students with opportunities to give back to our local community and communities abroad. Members help organize service projects for students in Pre-K 3-8th Grade, including the Global Service Initiative, Winter Wishes, and Day of Service! To join the Community Service Committee, please email

Diversity Committee: The Diversity Committee is dedicated to promoting and advocating for a diverse space for our children. Diversity of all kinds makes our school the special place that it is, and it is one of our core values. This committee helps to educate the community on diversity-related issues by hosting workshops and events that showcase and celebrate the diversity within our community. To join the Diversity Committee, please email

Library Committee: The Library Committee supports ISB’s multilingual library with special projects, events, and day-to-day assistance. The committee also collaborates with the Librarian to organize and promote events such as Literacy Week, the Multilingual Book Fair, author visits, and the ISB Multicultural Book Club (with the Diversity Committee). Members also help with the day-to-day activities in the Library, including book shelving and inventory. To join the Library Committee, please email

Staff Appreciation Committee: ISB Staff members play a critical role in the success of our school and our students. The Staff Appreciation Committee ensures the entire ISB Staff feels recognized for the hard work they do by organizing special holiday and end-of-year lunches, monthly breakfasts, treats, and raffles to thank those who educate and care for our children. To join the Staff Appreciation Committee, please email

Green Dragons: The Green Dragons Committee is dedicated to reducing waste at ISB. In addition to reducing waste, the committee also strives to raise awareness among students and the school community at large and connect ISB with local “green” initiatives. The committee complements the existing ISB staff task force around green initiatives and sustainability by recommending ways the PA and school activities could be more green and strive to attain zero waste. The 4th Grade Greek Odyssey Sleep Under: An Epic Night at ISB

Did you know that George O’Connor’s graphic novel series, The Olympians, is the most popular series in the ISB Library? This inspired the Library team and the Middle School Booklets Club to host an immersive extravaganza that would transport 4th Graders to Ancient Greece!

Literacy Week 2018

Amid the frenzy of Election Day and Parent Teacher Conferences, the ISB community came together to transform the gym for the 14th Annual Multilingual Book Fair: a forest of enticing French, English and Spanish literature, and to celebrate Literacy Week. The enthusiasm for the events stretched far and wide.
